International Moon Day
The United Nations General Assembly declared July 20 every year to be celebrated as International Moon day, to mark the anniversary of the day when humans first landed on the Moon as part of NASA’s Apollo 11 mission. Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on the Moon on July 20, 1969.
To spark the interest of science and astronomy among the potential scientists and astronomers of SNGV, students of grade VII celebrated International Moon day by reviving those remarkable moments of Neil Armstrong, Edwin Aldrin and Michael Collins landing on the Moon. The positioning of the moon, its effect on Earth, and the planetary moons were greatly discussed and delved into . They also gave information about India's Lunar Missions.
This year's Moon Day is particularly significant for India because of the successful launching of Chandrayaan 3 mission of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
A poem on the moon was also recited by the students. The assembly concluded with a quiz on Moon and Moon explorations.
Focused and vibrant SNGV Educators Mrs.Sreelatha P.T and Mrs.Margie Mehta aided and bucked up the students to achieve their mission .The appealing moments were captured by Mrs.Trupti Jani and Mrs.Margie Mehta.
